Old Fort JacksonOld Fort Jackson Average User Rating: (0 votes, add your vote or comments) Named in honor of Georgia governor and Revolutionary War soldier James Jackson, Old Fort Jackson is the oldest standing brick fortification in the state and is a National Historic Landmark. Fort James Jackson was built by the United States Government between 1808 and 1812 to defend the harbor and city of Savannah.
